Take a look at the pictures to see the photo recipe of the paella that the students cooked.  Wednesday, we all braved the waters for some surfing fun.  Enjoy!

Beginning the second week

Greetings again from sunny Cadiz!

Students have had the opportunity to enjoy many activities hosted by CentroMundolengua here in Cadiz and in other locations.

At the end of the previous week, students attended a flamenco show and had the opportunity to explore and compete to show their knowledge of the old section of Cadiz.  Saturday morning, students boarded a bus bound for Granada were they had the incredible experience of visiting the chapel that holds the bodies of Ferdinand and Isabella, rules of Spain when Columbus landed in the Americas.  The evening brought a cool walk through the Arabic section of town (Granada was one of the last cities in Spain to be occupied by the Arabs) with its old architecture, winding and hilly streets, and breath-taking view of the Alhambra at night.  Sunday morning brought an extended visit to the interior of the Alhambra followed by lunch and our return home.

Monday left time for the beach after classes, and this evening students will get their hands dirty as the school leads a cooking class for making the traditional Spanish rice dish called paella.  Buen provecho! Only 3 more days left in the city!  Those coming 3 days will see afternoons filled with dancing, surfing, and other activities.  Fun! (and yes, they are still all going to class every morning, too!)

Arrived and enjoying!

Greetings!

We have arrived in sunny Cadiz and are settling in nicely.  Our first day off of the airplane was full of visits to sights in and around Madrid...the Prado Museum of Art, The Reina Sofia Museum of Modern Art, and a few different plazas of importance to name a few sights.

After a good night of sleep, we were off to visit a few more places before boarding the AVE train to Cadiz from Madrid.  Upon our arrival in Cadiz a mere 4 1/2 hours later, host families were waiting with warm smiles to take us all home.

Our Monday morning was spent at the school where students became acquainted with the campus and met other students. After classes, students returned to have lunch with their host families and rest before returning to visit different points of interest in the city.

Today, students sat through their first full day of class accompanied by a visit to a local observation tower.  Our day ends with a welcome party with other students in the school.  Tomorrow brings morning classes followed with an afternoon at the beach.

More soon to come!  Enjoy the pictures.
