Beginning the second week

Greetings again from sunny Cadiz!

Students have had the opportunity to enjoy many activities hosted by CentroMundolengua here in Cadiz and in other locations.

At the end of the previous week, students attended a flamenco show and had the opportunity to explore and compete to show their knowledge of the old section of Cadiz.  Saturday morning, students boarded a bus bound for Granada were they had the incredible experience of visiting the chapel that holds the bodies of Ferdinand and Isabella, rules of Spain when Columbus landed in the Americas.  The evening brought a cool walk through the Arabic section of town (Granada was one of the last cities in Spain to be occupied by the Arabs) with its old architecture, winding and hilly streets, and breath-taking view of the Alhambra at night.  Sunday morning brought an extended visit to the interior of the Alhambra followed by lunch and our return home.

Monday left time for the beach after classes, and this evening students will get their hands dirty as the school leads a cooking class for making the traditional Spanish rice dish called paella.  Buen provecho! Only 3 more days left in the city!  Those coming 3 days will see afternoons filled with dancing, surfing, and other activities.  Fun! (and yes, they are still all going to class every morning, too!)
